polyester
One of the most popularly used fabrics is polyester. While this fabric is not as environmentally friendly as cotton, it is indeed one of the cheapest ones in the market, caring for polyester fabrics is not as hard just as long as one remember to use mild heat or preferably cold.
Polyesters are derived from raw petroleum in the form of chemical substances that are extracted from it, at this point, the polyesters that are extracted from petroleum can be manufactured as fibres –from which fabrics will emerge-, films and plastics –some of which are also used in very creative quilting.
Just like it is done for cotton fabrics, the polyester that is to be converted into fabrics is also spun into threads that will be dyed and then woven into full size fabrics. In addition, those polyesters that will be made into plastics in modern day activities are usually also woven into particular plastic fabrics; these fabrics have the particularity to look and feel slick and shiny.
What makes of polyester one of the favourite fabrics besides the sales cost are the fact that they will not shrink with the use or by washing it, and it dries quickly, however, when it is wet, in the form of garments, tends to cling to the body, making it not a favourite fabric for women’s blouses.
Still, the most important fact of polyester fabrics is the care, as said before, the most it will require is washing, no need for bleach or for any form of cleaning fluids since even stains tend not to cling to the fabric.
